art degree° is a journal of art, fashion, music, design, culture, and travel. We follow the people, places, materials, and ideas that make culture move — across borders, generations, rooms, records, runways, and bodies.
We begin with the belief that the record is unfinished. Some references have been cited so often that they have become furniture. Others — no less formative, often more revealing — have been left just outside the frame. We are interested in the whole picture.
The African diaspora is one of the great engines of modern culture. We treat that not as a revelation, but as a fact. From there, we look outward: for the unexpected lineage, the better example, the beautiful contradiction, and the idea that changes the room.
